Plain English summary: Use Aura responsibly. Don't use the agent or automation features to do things that would be illegal or harmful. Your local data is yours. We provide the software as-is. These terms are governed by Indian law.

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Aura Browser ("Aura", "the Software", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

These Terms apply to all users of Aura Browser, including users on the free tier and paid subscribers. If you are using Aura on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

The Service

Aura Browser is a desktop web browser with an integrated on-device AI system, automation agents, knowledge workspace, and research tools. The Software is provided by The Builder Company, headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Core browsing and local AI features operate entirely on your device. Account management and subscription enforcement require connectivity to our backend service ("Aura Engine"). Cloud AI features (optional) require connectivity to third-party providers.

Accounts

To access subscription features, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate account information
  • Maintaining the security of your account
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use at security@thebuilder.company

We use email OTP for authentication. We do not store passwords. One account per person. Account sharing is not permitted.

Subscriptions & Billing

Aura offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. Paid plans unlock features including cloud AI model access and additional workspaces.

All prices are exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for any applicable taxes in your jurisdiction.

Acceptable Use

You may use Aura for any lawful purpose. You may not use Aura to:

  • Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
  • Transmit malware, spyware, or any malicious code
  • Conduct unauthorised penetration testing or scraping of systems you do not own
  • Engage in harassment, abuse, or threats toward any individual or group
  • Circumvent technical measures of any third-party service in violation of that service's terms
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of Aura's proprietary components
Note on automation features: Aura's AI agent and Playwright automation capabilities are powerful tools. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any automated actions you direct Aura to take comply with the terms of service of the websites or services being accessed, and with all applicable laws.

AI & Agent Features

Aura includes AI-powered features including chat, autonomous browsing agents, and natural language automation. Important limitations and responsibilities:

  • AI outputs are not guaranteed to be accurate. Do not rely on AI-generated content for decisions with significant legal, medical, financial, or safety consequences without independent verification.
  • You control agent actions. Before agents execute sensitive actions, a confirmation prompt is shown. You are responsible for the actions you authorise.
  • Local model performance varies based on your hardware and the GGUF model you have installed.
  • Cloud model usage is subject to the terms and policies of OpenAI or Anthropic respectively. We are not responsible for the outputs, availability, or pricing of those services.

We are not liable for any harm arising from AI outputs or automated actions taken by the agent at your direction.

Your Local Data

All browsing history, notes, AI conversations, Brain workspace data, and documents stored locally by Aura belong to you. We do not access this data. You are responsible for backing up local data. We are not liable for loss of local data due to device failure, accidental deletion, or software updates.

If you uninstall Aura, local data stored in the app's data directory may be removed depending on your operating system's uninstall behaviour. Export important data before uninstalling.

Intellectual Property

Aura Browser, including its user interface, branding, and proprietary backend systems, is the intellectual property of The Builder Company. All rights reserved.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Aura Browser for your personal or internal business use in accordance with these Terms. This licence does not include the right to sublicense, sell, resell, or redistribute the Software.

Content you create using Aura (notes, logbook entries, saved documents) remains yours. We claim no ownership over your content.

Third-Party Services

Aura integrates with or provides access to third-party services including OpenAI, Anthropic, and the Chrome Web Store for extensions. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service.

Chrome extensions installed through Aura are subject to the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies and each extension's own terms. Install extensions only from sources you trust.

Disclaimers

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of security vulnerabilities. We do not warrant the accuracy or reliability of any AI-generated output.

During beta and early access periods, features may change, be removed, or be unavailable without notice.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE BUILDER COMPANY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF AURA BROWSER.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR INR 1,000, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

Termination

You may stop using Aura at any time by uninstalling the Software and deleting your account.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, engage in conduct that harms other users or our services, or if required by law. We will provide notice where reasonably practicable. Upon termination, your licence to use the Software ends. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 8, 10, 11, and 14) shall survive.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms as the product and legal requirements evolve. Material changes will be notified via in-app notice or email at least 14 days before taking effect. The current Terms are always available at aura.thebuilder.company/terms.

Your continued use of Aura after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Software shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Before initiating formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us at legal@thebuilder.company to attempt resolution informally. Most issues can be resolved quickly through direct communication.
